All volunteers (coaches, assistant coaches, managers, trainers) require volunteer screening.
This screening is provided by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and involves two steps:
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Volunteers & Bench Staff for the '25-'26 season!
As you know, Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSCs) are required to volunteer on a hockey roster - please consider applying as soon as possible.
Effective immediately, it is no longer the responsibility of the Association to upload or ensure VSCs are completed (though we will remain diligent and mindful that it has been completed).
Anyone interested in volunteering this year should complete these steps:
- Apply for a VSC (if due) - https://www.opp.ca/index.php?id=147&lng=en
- Here is a link to the letter needed to apply: https://www.hockeyeasternontario.ca/.../heo-prc-volunteer...
- Upload your completed VSC through the new system: https://www.hockeyeasternontario.ca/vulnerable-sector-check/
- Sign a declaration (if you have a valid VSC)
If you already have a valid VSC, you only need to sign a declaration - but it must still go through the new system. Rosters will not be approved without proper VSC documentation.
NDMHA Rosters will NOT be approved without ALL Bench Staff having their completed Police Records Checks. Those without the handed-in Police Records Check or required certified courses will be removed off the list of bench staff and not able to participate, either on- or off-ice, until they are completed.
